With the prospect of the illegal blockade of Qatar lasting many more months than originally anticipated, Qatar is taking steps to ensure they are ready to face any situation on the electricity and water front.

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has boldly stated that they are prepared to face any contingency, with current capacity enough to meet all of Qatar’s electricity and water needs for the next five years, reported Gulf Times.

“Kahramaa has all necessary reserves in place to operate all projects in the country whenever required. We also have several plans to enhance our role to fulfil the mission of providing sufficient quantities of electricity and water to meet the country's future needs, in accordance with internationally recognised standards,” said Kahramaa President Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari.

All electricity and water projects in Qatar are proceeding as planned, without delay, and additional projects for electricity, water and solar energy will be announced soon, reported The Peninsula.
During the second quarter of 2017, Kahramaa efficiently met the growing demand for electricity and water services, thanks to the efforts and co-ordination between all concerned authorities in the country.

The maximum load reached by the electricity network during this period was 7,600 MW, while the maximum demand for water was 375m gallons.
