After seeing an increase in the daily COVID-19 cases, wearing a mask in closed public spaces has been made mandatory starting Thursday, July 7. The decision comes after reviewing the 5045 active cases in the country, with an average of 599 positives tests on daily basis.

According to experts, if everyone follows the preventive measures, it will be easier to tackle the problem this time, as compared to going for extreme measures and going into lockdown and working remotely. According to statistics, the number of cases are expected to increase as restrictions are being eased.

“Taking the vaccination is the most essential step and the fourth booster shot dose is necessary after four months from the third dose for those over 50 and people who might not have strong enough immune response, for greater protection from infection", said Dr Muna Al Maslamani, Medical Director of the Communicable Disease Center at Hamad Medical Corporation in an interview with Rayyan TV

From June 27 to July 3, Qatar saw a daily average of 599 cases in the community and 63 among travellers bringing the total number of active covid-19 cases to 5,045
