Are you in hurry to reach your destination? Wait, you may not reach there at all if you are driving in excessive speed.

Drivers who travel at higher speeds have less time to identify and react to what is happening around them. It takes them longer to stop.

And if there is a crash, it is more severe, causing greater injury to the occupants and any pedestrian or rider they hit. So by excessive speed you are risking the life and safety of your own and other innocents people’s as well.

Many drivers unintentionally exceed the speed limit, often without realizing it. Most of the modern days cars are so powerful and comfortable they give drivers little sensation of their speed.

It is too easy to creep above the limit. Some others exceed the limit intentionally to show their crazy skills. They are not valuing their own life as well as the lives of others.

Here are some tips for keeping within the speed limit.

•Start early enough to reach your destination on time.
•Check your speedometer regularly, especially when leaving high speed roads
•Know the limits – look for signs, especially at junctions
•Remember, speed limits are a maximum, not a target
•Recognize what makes you speed - keeping up with traffic, overtaking or being tailgated
•Concentrate – distracted drivers speed unintentionally
•Slow down while approaching intersections, signals, schools, hospitals, parks and other public places.

Reducing Speed Reduces the Effects of Impact
• A pedestrian hit at 30km/h has a 90% chance of SURVIVING.
• A pedestrian hit at 50km/h has an 80% chance of BEING KILLED
Remembe this, speed thrills, but kills..
