Five coastal areas will be out of bounds for camping sites this winter season as authorities have found them not safe enough, officials from the Ministry of Environment have announced.

They include Al Ghariyat, Al Maroona, Ras Al Matbeh, Al Nouf and Al Asheerge on the west coast, according to The Peninsula.

The ministry has started receiving applications from citizens and most applicants have preferred coastal places. Authorities said applications were being received for 14 main areas along the coast and on land.

Four sites available for booking along the coast — in Selin, Al Adid, Dukhan Al Saraya and Dukhan Al Kharayja and 10 on land — in Al Mazroat, Al Hashim, Umm Al Afayi, Rawdat Aisha, East and West Rawdat Rashid, Al Nakiyani, Al Harara, Al Zubara and Al Ghashamiyat. [The Peninsula]
