The Ministry of Interior will be holding a week-long auction of seized cars of all types and machinery in the Industrial Area starting today, The Peninsula reports.
The auction of a large number of vehicles and machinery will be held at the government's grounds on Street Number 52 where the vehicles are kept.
On weekdays, the auction will be held from 8am until 11am and from 3.30pm until 7pm. The auction time on Friday will be in the evening.
The cars and machinery that will go under the hammer were seized for traffic violations as their owners did not turn up to claim them after paying fines. The minimum bidding price to participate in the auction has been fixed at QR5,000.
When a deal is decided, the bidder must pay at least 20 percent of the price. The remaining value of the car or machinery can be paid the next day.
If one doesn't pay the next day, authorities have the right to re-auction the vehicle or machinery. When one has paid the full amount, the buyer must take possession of the vehicle or machinery within 24 hours.
We will update this post with some pictures from the auction. Come back to this post later.
