The Consular Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has asked all Qatari citizens seeking medical treatment in India to follow the instructions issued by the competent authorities in India.

The Ministry said, certain conditions must be met, such as obtaining a visa for the patient (treatment visa) from the Indian Embassy in Doha and getting a visa for the co-patient (companion visa), if required.

A letter signed and stamped from the hospital, which indicates the consent to receive the patient, and other details such as expected duration, estimated costs, are also necessary.

When these conditions are followed, patients and their companions can apply for an extension of the visa duration, if needed.

India added Qatar to its list of countries whose citizens can apply for an e-visa online last year.

Only those individuals who wish to travel to India for recreation, sight-seeing, casual visit to meet friends or relatives, a short duration medical treatment or a casual business visit are eligible to apply for the e-visa.

The validity of an e-visa is 60 days from the date of arrival in India.

Double entry is permitted on an e-tourist visa and e-business visa. Triple entry will be permitted on the e-medical visa.

The e-visa is valid for entry through 25 designated airports (Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Kozhikode, Chennai, Chandigarh, Kochi, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Tiruchirapalli, Thiruvananthapuram, Varanasi and Vishakhapatnam) and five designated seaports (Kochi, Goa, Mangalore, Mumbai and Chennai).
