The Metrash2 app, which has been around for some years now, had greatly simplified the process of applying for and getting many government services done.

Yesterday, the General Directorate of Information Systems at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) launched an updated version of the app, for mobile phones and smart devices, which has dramatically improved its use, reported Gulf Times. 

The Metrash app, which is available in both iOs and Android versions, is currently the fastest way to access MoI services from any place and at any time.

Captain Eng. Abdulaziz Al Ruwaili, MoI’s Assistant Director of Information Systems Department, said the department had spared no efforts to make the app better than ever before.

“One of the most important features of the app’s new version is that it includes many new services introduced to the public,” he was quoted as saying by Qatar Tribune.

Receipt of all payments of transactions done on the Metrash2 app is one such feature. The app will now allow users to request a copy of the payment receipt to be sent to their e-mail. It will also let users pay by debit cards for the first time, said another report in Qatar Tribune.

Companies will also have the option of paying service charges using debit cards, as well as using credit and debit cards for payments of visa work done overseas.

Users can apply for car tint installation permit for permitted vehicles and fees payment without the need to go to the General Directorate of Traffic.

Metrash2 users can also request for a driving licence for light vehicles and pay the outstanding fees online. It also allows issuing a replacement for lost or damaged car plate numbers and paying for the service.

This service includes the possibility of choosing the workshop to produce the plate numbers while determining the shape (long or short).

All these changes were included following suggestions from end users over an extended period.

A total of 174 services can be accessed through the MoI’s application.
