Qatar’s Ministry of Interior yesterday referred seven individuals to Public Prosecution following their negative use of social media.
In a tweet on its Twitter page, the Ministry said the individuals have been referred to prosecution for “using social media to spread false news and inciting racial and tribal strife.”

MoI officials found the subject of the content published in the concerned individuals’ accounts to be accusatory in nature.
The individuals were referred to the Public Prosecution to carry out the procedures in this regard.
MoI reiterated that it will not refrain from taking legal measures against anyone who adopts a racist discourse aimed at threatening the security, stability and social peace of society.
The Ministry also reminded users of social media platforms not to offend any component of society, whether on tribal or racist grounds.
The Ministry stressed that the cohesion and stability of Qatari society is every citizen and resident’s responsibility.
