Upon making health insurance mandatory through the law, the Minister of Public Health (MoPH) said all residents and visitors would be required to carry health insurance through the insurance companies registered by the Ministry of Public Health in order to receive basic health care.
According to the ministry, in order to ensure that the law is implemented effectively, it will be done in phases, starting with visitors, in accordance with certain provisions and measures to be announced in the near future.
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced on Wednesday, May 18 that it has issued draft executive regulations that regulate the operations of health services in Qatar. These regulations have been implemented as of May 2022 and are aimed at enhancing the services provided by the private and public sectors.

The draft executive regulations that included detailed provisions of the law had been approved by cabinet officials.
The Ministry emphasized the implementation of a health insurance system as it would enhance competitiveness when offering healthcare, such as increasing insurance companies' involvement in supporting the state's healthcare sector.
