As Easter is fast approaching, we're set to stock up on our grocery list, Easter decorations and definitely loads of chocolate. There is however, one product that you must let go off this Easter 2022.
Following information about the likelihood of contamination with salmonella bacteria, the Ministry of Public Health has issued a warning to customers about Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs from Belgium with a printed expiration date between 11 July, 2022 and 7 October, 2022.
The substance, which was delivered in the UK after 57 cases of poisoning were detected there, has been recalled, according to the maker.
The Ministry of Public Health has taken precautionary measures to ensure that the product with the aforementioned dates and origin is not available in shops or markets, and has issued a directive to suppliers to remove the suspected product from markets if it exists, noting that this type of chocolate is imported from Belgium on a rather small scale.

As an added precaution, the Ministry instructed its inspectors to take random samples of the product, regardless of its country of origin or expiration date, and send them to a laboratory for analysis. Ports have also been notified to collect samples from incoming shipments and evaluate them to ensure their safety, legitimacy, and compliance with applicable regulations.
Salmonella is one of the bacteria that can cause food poisoning if eaten contaminated foods.
