The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced the opening of a new testing center in Lusail starting tomorrow, January 6, from 4 pm. Located opposite the Lusail Circuit, the center will be exclusively for drive-through PCR tests.
The drive-through center consists of a 10-lane drive that conducts only PCR tests. MoPH has confirmed that the center is not for Rapid Antigen Tests, which will still be available at the Primary Health Care Centers (PHCCs).
The decision to set up this new facility has been following the exceptionally high rise in demand for these tests in the wake of the Omicron variant. Speaking about the capacity of the Lusail center, the Ministry indicates that it can conduct up to 5,000 nasal swabs per day.
The drive-thru will be functional all days of the week from 8 am–10 pm and is expected to continue as a PCR examination center as long as the demand for Covid-19 tests remains high.
