Celebrations related to Qatar National Day officially kicked off at the Darb Al Saai grounds yesterday, in an atmosphere filled with fierce patriotism and national pride.

A large number of people, as well as top officials from various private and government entities in the country, attended the opening ceremony.

Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah officially launched the activities, according to Gulf Times.

Commander of Joint Special Forces Major General Hamad bin Abdullah Al Fetais Al  Marri and Director-General of Police College Brigadier General Dr Mohamed Abdullah Al Mahna Al Marri also attended the ceremony.

The police music band played patriotic music as the flag was hoisted and a parade followed it.

Thousands of people attended the ceremony and enjoyed the activities that were on offer. This year, particular emphasis has been given to children to engage them in educational and fun exercises.

Many children dressed up in traditional as well as military fatigues to show their love for the country.

This year, Qatar National Day celebrations are being organised with the motto 'As long as it is proven by our deeds ... Qatar remains free.’

Major General Issa Ibrahim Al Sada of the Qatar National Service Academy said they had prepared many activities and exercises that will engage young visitors in simulated battlefield situations that will enhance their spirit of national solidarity.

There will also be some self-defence exercises conducted by specialist coaches.
