Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Prosthetics Department conducted a training workshop to introduce a new technique called C-BRACE for lower extremity straightening in patients with lower limb deformities. HMC announced the same through a press release and via all their socials.

Ottobock Academy developed the technique and conducted the three-day workshop at HMC’s Qatar Rehabilitation Center (QRI). The session was attended by healthcare professionals from Occupational Therapy Unit, QRI, and HMC’s Prosthetics Department.

In patients with lower limb deformities, the high-end technique assists the patients’ lower limb through an electronic supporting device. This device can in turn be programmed based on the patient’s needs. By stimulating the functional movement of joints, the device minimized the patient’s efforts and grants them greater mobility and independence.

In the workshop conducted at HMC, the training sessions focused on the installation and programming of the new device on patients to get the best possible outcome. An international certificate in installation, programming, and follow-up on this high-tech device was awarded to those who participated in this workshop.

In Qatar, prosthetic services are provided by rehabilitation, prosthetic, and occupational therapy experts who are highly trained and experienced in the field. This ensures that the patients’ quality of life is improved and there is a higher level of therapeutic outcome. These services are available at Hazm Mebaireek Hospital, QRI, and Rumaila Hospital.
