Qatar's national airline and the national flag carrier has announced the cancellation of all flights going to and from Pakistan amid escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, owing to which the latter has closed its airspace to all commercial international and local flights until further notice.

Qatar Airways' flights to Peshawar, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Sialkot have been stopped temporarily and a travel alert has been shared on the airline’s website, as reported by The Peninsula.

According to the airline, flights to other countries close to this region might undergo delays, as alternate routes may need to be taken due to the blocked off airspace.

For travelers going to either India or Pakistan, flight status is available on the website.

“Pakistan has officially closed its airspace until further notice,” Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said in a tweet earlier, stating that the decision was “due to the environment.”

As reported by The Peninsula, a CAA source informed AFP that all airlines were notified to “suspend their operations in Pakistan until further notice.”

On the other hand, India has suspended operations at four of its airports near the India-Pakistan borders, local media and official reported earlier.

"Srinagar, Jammu and Leh airports were among five airports closed on Wednesday for civilian air traffic," the Press Trust of India, a news agency reported.

Meanwhile, IndiGo, GoAir, Jet Airways and Vistara, said flights to several airports were temporarily put on hold.
