Qatar has announced, in its capacity as a mediator, the launch of the Lake Lucerne Summit and the first meeting of a high-level committee, with representatives from the United States, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan taking part.
Dr Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said specialised technical and professional groups have been formed to negotiate the terms of the final agreement, which will cover all aspects of the memorandum of understanding.
He added that follow-up groups have also been formed to oversee the implementation of the memorandum and monitor progress towards concluding the final agreement, reflecting the commitment of all parties to moving forward with the negotiation process in good faith and with the aim of reaching a comprehensive and sustainable agreement.
Qatar said it will continue, as one of the mediating states, to work with Pakistan and all concerned parties to create a positive environment that enables the negotiations to achieve their goals.
Dr Al Ansari reaffirmed Qatar’s belief that dialogue and diplomacy remain the best way to address conflicts and settle disputes.
He also expressed Qatar’s appreciation for the important role played by Pakistan as a partner and mediator in this process, as well as for the commitment of the United States and Iran to diplomatic solutions.
Qatar also thanked Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and other brotherly and friendly countries for their support in helping create the right conditions to move the process forward.
Dr Al Ansari reiterated Qatar’s full support for all efforts aimed at ensuring the success of the negotiations and reaching a final agreement that enhances sustainable peace, security, stability and prosperity in the region.
