In a move that reflects the importance of solidarity to fight the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Qatar Charity has made a contribution of QR500,000 to Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) to boost QRCS’ efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19.

QRCS’ COVID-19 control campaign supports the government’s efforts to combat the infectious disease and safeguard the health of the wider community.

The donation from QC was handed over recently with the participation of Mohamed Rashid Al Kaabi, assistant CEO for Communication and Resource Mobilization at QC, and Abdullah Sultan Al Qatan, executive director of Medical Affairs at QRCS.

According to Al Kaabi, the funding “contributes to QRCS’s ongoing services designed to reduce the spread of the virus, driven by a spirit of solidarity between NGOs and the Government of Qatar in such an emergency.”

“This support embodies co-operation between QC and QRCS in the global mainstream of fighting this pandemic,” he added.

The QC official mentioned that the organization has been supporting various government bodies and NGOs to defeat this crisis.

Al Qatan recognized QC’s support, highlighting that it mirrors the shared humanitarian values and goals of both organizations.

This is built upon a long legacy of collaborating for several programs to support the vulnerable locally and internationally, he added.

He also emphasized the significance of concerted efforts from everyone to build on the exemplary endeavors the country has taken to overcome this challenge.

“There are women and men making considerable sacrifices and working hard for us to be safe at our homes,” he said.

“They deserve every form of support from us, by donating to the anti-coronavirus initiatives and following the instructions of the government to avoid causes of infection.”

Earlier this week, the Secretary-General of QRCS Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi also confirmed that the organization will run its Ramadan campaign "It is Better and Greater in Reward," with even more determination this year, focusing on those most affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
