According to a customs official, plans are in the works to integrate Qatar's single window customs clearance system Al Nadeeb with other GCC governments via the GCC Information Center.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and the General Authority of Customs (GAC) had linked the electronic management system of MoPH with Al Nadeeb last week.

Assistant Director of GAC's Land Customs Department Yousuf Ahmed Al Hammadi noted that roughly 700 vehicles traverse the Abu Samra border crossing between Qatar and Saudi Arabia every day.

“The Abu Samra border crossing has witnessed a growing number of vehicles and passengers crossing since its reopening in mid of January 2021”, said Al Hammadi.

Moreover, the number of vehicles passing through the border doubled to 1,200 per day during the Eid Al Adha holiday.

Al Hammadi noted that most advanced technologies and systems is being used by the GC to facilitate the movement of vehicles at the border crossing.

In the near future, new systems will be installed at the Abu Samra border crossing to improve the operation.

Al Hammadi also highlighted that the Al Nadeeb single-window customs clearance system connects all departments and systems involved.
