Qatar has always been an open country and keeps its doors open for jurists and human rights organizations unlike other countries in the region, stressed the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Her Excellency Lolwah Al Khater.
Speaking at an open debate session at the Global Security Forum 2019 that concluded in Doha yesterday, HE the Spokesperson criticized the “bloc politics” approach in the region, saying that Qatar has been trying to soften that policy as it pursues biased attitudes that harm those living in the region.
She underlined that to combat false information three things need to be done: verifying the piece of information when it arrives, accepting differences and diversity of point-of-views, and refrain from deliberately publish misleading news.
HE Al Khater doubted the possibility of the continuation of authoritarian regimes and their full control over the messages and information in the countries governed by those regimes.

Regarding who owns the true story, she said the blockading countries have made up several false accusations against Qatar, and therefore, a lot of the information they provide is incorrect.
About the possibility of unifying all policies and visions with the other Gulf States, she stressed the need to agree upon the basic principles governing the relationships between these countries.
There can be no perfect match in all policies and visions, and in the case of disagreements, mechanisms should be followed to discuss and resolve such disputes, she mentioned.

HE the Spokesperson further said that the basic GCC law has provisions for dealing with internal disputes based on respect for each other.
Regarding the possibility of negotiations to end the blockade imposed on Qatar, she lauded Kuwait’s efforts to serve as a mediator.
However, she said that each time there is hope for some solution, one of the blockading countries sends a hostile message without any justification.
Regarding Qatar’s position on the US-Iran tensions and the possibility of military confrontation between the two countries, she said the whole world would be affected in case of military escalation.
