On Saturday, if you look up to the skies and see something huge gliding through it, don't panic. It is just a mammoth kite that being flown in an attempt to land Qatar yet another Guinness World Record. 

The kite, which is made in the colours of the Qatar national flag and a picture of HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has been named the ‘Al Majd kit,’ reported The Peninsula.

The glory kite, which is the brainchild of Qatari poet Husain Al Khayarin, measures 2,673SqM and was tested in Beijing, China.

The kite will be flown on Saturday, December 29, at the Al Daayen beach after Dhuhr prayer, in the presence of officials from Guinness Book of World Records.

“This initiative is part of my dream to enter Qatar’s name in the Guinness Book through some work related to the Qatar National Day. I’m trying to make this dream come true by flying the largest kite in the skies of Doha carrying Qatar flag and the image of the HH The Amir,” read a rough translation of Al Khayarin’s tweet in Arabic.
