The friendly bond between Qatar and Japan has received a fresh impetus with His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s official visit to the Asian country.
Earlier today, HH The Amir met with Japanese Emperor Akihito to evaluate the amicable relations shared between the two countries and engage in discussions on some common concerns and issues of interest, reported Gulf Times.

HH The Amir also met with the Crown Prince of Japan, Naruhito at the residence of the Crown Prince. The two held talks over the harmonious Qatar-Japan connection and opportunities for enriching it further.
Earlier yesterday, HH The Amir had also met with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to discuss ways to bolster bilateral cooperation via means of strategic collaborations.
The Japanese premier extended a warm welcome to HH The Amir and his accompanying delegation, reiterating the significance of the strong bond between the two countries.

He highlighted that the Qatar-Japan friendship will mark its 50th anniversary in 2021, adding that Japan is keen on further cementing its ties with Qatar.
The Japanese PM recognized Qatar for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup and also expressed his gratitude to HH The Amir for facilitating the release of Jumpei Yasuda, the Japanese journalist forcefully held in Syria, reported The Peninsula.
HH The Amir, who first visited Japan in 2015, shared his delight on making the second official trip to the country, laying emphasis on taking the Qatar-Japan relationship to greater heights through a multidisciplinary collaborative approach across various fields.
Naming Japan as ‘the first partner,’ HH The Amir said, Qatar and Japan’s strategic partnership will reap great benefits for both countries, particularly in areas such as tourism and health.
He further acknowledged Japan for hosting the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, underlining that he is certain the tournament would be a remarkable success.
The two leaders also discussed in length the most recent regional and international issues and stressed on the importance of peaceful dialogue for any positive outcomes.
During the meeting, Qatar and Japan signed a number of agreements to foster cooperation across different domains comprising: an MoU between Qatar’s Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan, an MoU between the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the two countries, and an MoU between Qatar’s Ministry of Transport and Communications and Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
HH The Amir and the accompanying delegation from Qatar were given an honorable reception upon arrival at the Japanese PM’s office. The reception convened a number of politicians, economists, businessmen, and eminent professionals from Japanese organizations in addition to Qatari business leaders and senior management of several Qatari companies.
During the visit to Japan, HH The Amir also met with some Qatari students and trainees in the country. The opportunity allowed students to share their experiences with HH The Amir, who assured them of his support and reminded them of using the knowledge they have gained for the benefit of their country, according to Qatar Tribune.

The visit to Japan was part of HH The Amir’s ‘Asian Tour,’ which kicked-off with the first stop in South Korea. HH The Amir has bid farewell to Japan and is set to visit the Republic of China next.
