In yet another endeavor that reflects Qatar’s strong humanitarian spirit, a group of search, rescue and civil defense officials from the country have made their way to Greece.
In implementation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s directives, a team from the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and a team from the Civil Defense of the Ministry of Interior headed to Greece yesterday.

The team will participate in search and rescue operations in Greece as the country deals with devastating wildfires that have torn through its various parts.

Greece is experiencing the worst heatwave in over 30 years, with wildfires sweeping tens of thousands of acres of forestland, damaging homes and businesses and killing animals. Temperatures across Greece have been over 40C (104F) all week, Al Jazeera reported.
Qatar’s support for Greece comes shortly after the country sent a search and rescue team to Turkey. The team joined search and rescue operations for missing persons in Turkey as it fought catastrophic wildfires.
