A few days after US President Donald Trump unilaterally acknowledged Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, protests are erupting all across the world.
With tensions reaching boiling point, Israel has been using excessive force against Palestinian protestors. Qatar strongly condemned the Israeli actions against protestors, reported Gulf Times.
In a statement, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said the fall of dozens of martyrs and injured among Palestinian demonstrators by the Israeli occupation forces is a heinous crime and a blatant infringement of the right to peaceful protest.
The statement called on the international community to act immediately to stop the Israeli occupation’s crimes and to protect the Palestinian people.
Reiterating Qatar’s position in support of the Palestinian cause and the brotherly Palestinian people, it said the most important among the legitimate rights of the Palestinians is the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Meanwhile, students at the Qatar University organised a protest against the US decision to accept Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, according to Qatar Tribune.
