Qatar has made remarkable strides in the 2024 United Nations E-Government Development Index (EGDI), jumping from 78th to 53rd place among 193 countries. The biennial index, released by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, measures how effectively governments provide digital services to citizens and businesses.

This year, Qatar ranked 5th globally for its overall improvement, advancing 25 positions. It also placed 5th in the Telecommunications Infrastructure Index (TII) with a leap of 37 spots. In the Online Services Index (OSI), Qatar climbed 27 places to rank 58th, while in the Human Capital Index (HCI), it moved up 15 positions to 90th.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has led efforts to elevate Qatar's standing in the EGDI. They have launched 29 projects across six key pillars, aiming to rank among the top e-governments by 2030. Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030, focused on building an integrated and secure digital government, will continue driving progress in the coming years.
