Qatar and Romania have pledged to bolster bilateral ties through collaboration across various fields.

The Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is on a visit to Romania, accompanied by an official delegation.

During his visit, Sheikh Mohamed met with the Romanian premier Viorica Dancila and the Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu to review Qatar-Romania relations and ways to enhance them further.

The two sides exchanged views on issues of common concern.

While speaking at a joint press conference with his Romanian counterpart, HE Sheikh Mohamed said Qatar views Romania as a thriving economy. 

"We have great confidence that there will be results and benefits for the two countries," he said.

He further said the meeting allowed the two sides to delve into ways of boosting cooperation between the two countries.

Some of the areas defined for collaboration include investment and trade. Additionally, the significance of coordinating in international organizations and enhancing communication was also highlighted during the meeting.

Sheikh Mohamed further said Qatar and Romania have also underlined the fields of energy, education, culture, and Qatar 2022 World Cup projects as areas for cooperation.

He highlighted that the meetings between the two nations will continue to explore more areas for mutually beneficial opportunities.

With regards to the Gulf crisis, Sheikh Mohamed said Qatar continues to maintain its stance on resolving the crisis through constructive dialogue.

The Qatari FM also condemned the recent attack of ships in the Gulf region, calling it a threat to energy security not just for the Gulf region but also for the world.

Reiterating the need for dialogue, Sheikh Mohamed said political differences must be kept aside between Iran and other Gulf countries to find a peaceful solution to end these tensions.
