In another commendable move that reflects Qatar's exemplary humanitarian spirit, the country has sent the second shipment of urgent medical aid to Iran.
The shipment contains about seven tonnes of medical equipment and essential medical supplies such as masks, sterilizers, and medical disinfectants.
The assistance from Qatar comes under His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's directives to send urgent medical assistance to Iran as the country fights the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease that has affected over 19,000 Iranians.
The first batch of this urgent medical aid was sent on March 13 and included about six tonnes of medical equipment and supplies.

The shipments have been sent through Qatar Fund for Development and Qatar Airways.
Iran has surfaced as one of the worst-hit countries of the COVID-19 pandemic and has earlier reached out to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a $5 billion emergency funding to be used in its fight against the dreaded virus.
According to the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Iran His Excellency Mohammed Ben Hamad Al Hajri, this is not the first time the State of Qatar has extended a helping hand to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In the past, Qatar has offered assistance to Iran during other emergencies and natural calamities such as floods and earthquakes.
The Ambassador added that this assistance will continue until the end of the epidemic as the State of Qatar will spare no effort in helping friendly nations.
Qatar's contribution in this regard comes as a matter of joint responsibility in fighting the epidemic, which represents a common global threat.
Earlier this week, the Amiri Diwan announced that HH the Amir has also given directives to provide urgent financial support to the State of Palestine. This comes in line with Qatar's contribution amid global efforts to combat the outbreak of the emerging COVID-19.
Meanwhile, in Qatar, health authorities continue to implement the highest level of monitoring, detection, and management procedures to deal with the virus, the public has been advised to follow certain measures to safeguard their health.
This includes washing your hands often, using hand sanitizers, and keeping a distance of at least one meter (3 feet) from people who have symptoms of illness.
For any queries, or concerns related to COVID-19 in Qatar, the public can contact a 24/7 hotline set up by the Ministry. The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.
