In another move reflecting its strong humanitarian spirit, Qatar has offered financial aid to Lebanon to support the country’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) provided the financial aid to Lebanon, which includes an aid package for the Lebanese Ministry of Health to provide 31,250 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
The support comes under Qatar’s ongoing efforts to play its part in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, which represents a common threat to the world.

Since the start of the pandemic, Qatar has supported several friendly countries with financial as well as medical aid to deal with the health crisis and its various impacts.
The aid for Lebanon adds to Qatar’s earlier efforts to support friendly countries in overcoming the major health challenge. This mirrors the country’s emphasis on solidarity and joint international responsibility to help limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus globally.
Additionally, this aid affirms Qatar's supportive stance toward brotherly and friendly countries, and its assistance to them to overcome the situation.
In April last year, Qatar sent urgent relief materials to Lebanon that included 10-tonnes of medical equipment and essential supplies.
The country also spared no effort in coming to the aid of Lebanon, following the deadly Beirut Port Explosion that took place on August 4, 2020.
Part of Qatar’s immediate response saw the mobilization of efforts to send a search and rescue team to the Lebanese capital in addition to providing two fully-equipped field hospitals to treat those affected and injured in the devastating incident.
Additionally, under the ‘Lebanon in Our Hearts’ fundraising campaign, Qatar raised more than QR94 million in aid to help Lebanon deal with the catastrophe.
