Qatar has been working diligently to protect the health of its citizens and residents since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With a focus on contact tracing and early detection, the country has been able to maintain one of the lowest mortality rates for COVID-19 in the world.
Qatar has now crossed the one million mark for COVID-19 testing - a testament to the strength of the country's health sector and its dedication to combating the virus with all its might.
Yesterday, Qatar took part in the sixth meeting of the GCC Health Ministers' Committee as well as the 83rd meeting of the Health Ministers of the GCC States.
Her Excellency Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari the Minister of Public Health represented Qatar in both meetings, held through video conferencing.

The meeting of the GCC Health Ministers' Committee discussed key health issues, most notably the General Secretariat reports on the GCC states’ efforts to curb COVID-19. This included the steps taken by the health sector to tackle the pandemic, voluntary work during the pandemic, and the General Secretariat’s vision on bolstering joint GCC action in the post-Covid-19 stage.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed the GCC Supreme Council’s decisions in the field of health, including the concluding statement, the Riyadh Declaration at the conclusion of the 40th summit of the GCC Supreme Council, among others.
The Committee also discussed its Plan of Action concerning, the follow-up to the implementation of the International Health Regulations (2005) for pandemic preparedness and response plans, the Gulf framework for the public health plan for emergency preparedness and response, the general framework for the public health emergency plan at airports of the GCC States and the Early Warning System Guideline.
The 83rd meeting of the GCC health ministers reviewed a number of important issues including the Gulf Diseases Prevention and Control Center, and the Health Council Executive Plan 2021.
