Qatar has once again been ranked the most peaceful country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in the 2025 Global Peace Index (GPI), marking its seventh time at the top. Globally, Qatar stands at 27th out of 163 countries assessed by the Institute for Economics and Peace.
The GPI measures peace using 23 indicators across three domains: safety and security, ongoing conflict, and militarization. Despite the MENA region being the least peaceful globally—impacted by conflicts in Yemen, Syria, and Sudan—Qatar remains the only MENA nation in the top 30 worldwide.
Qatar’s high score is driven by low crime rates, strong governance, and minimal military spending. Its stability also aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, prioritizing sustainable development and societal well-being.
While global peace has declined for the 13th time in 17 years, Qatar’s resilience stands out, thanks to its strategic diplomacy, effective security measures, and commitment to regional cooperation.
