Having attracted over 75 firms from various relevant sectors, the Qatar Travel Mart 2021 (QTM 2021) conference offers important insights into the field of tourism at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center from November 16 to 18.

QTM 2021 will be held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, and Qatar Living is the official media partner for the highly anticipated event.

NeXTfairs for Exhibitions and Conferences (NeXTfairs) has indicated that companies operating in diverse fields such as aviation, hotels and resorts, tour operators, destination management companies, cruise lines, transportation, and travel technology will participate in this event.

The event is expected to draw a large number of international participants, including companies from Italy, Cyprus, the Maldives, Azerbaijan, Rwanda, the Dominican Republic, and other countries looking to expand their presence in Qatar.

Rawad Sleem, co-founder and general manager of NeXTfairs, noted that the event will offer insights and new perspectives on the future of tourism, in addition to providing the most sought-after travel destinations and real estate development projects.

Moreover, it will highlight up-to-date luxury, business, medical, sports, MICE, halal tourism, leisure, and cultural tourism trends.

The large participation of both local and international enterprises, according to Sleem, indicates a high level of confidence in the Qatari market.

Furthermore, it confirms the commencement of the tourism and hospitality recovery phase following the effects of the coronavirus, particularly that Qatar's worldwide tourism attractiveness is currently higher than ever as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 countdown approaches.

QTM 2021 will be following all of the COVID-19 precautionary measures set by the government to ensure the safety of all visitors and only fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed to enter the exhibition.

The precautionary measures carried out by highly trained professionals include thorough disinfection of areas that entail meeting and communicating with visitors, especially reception halls, and other common places, in addition to wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and using the latest spray technology.

According to the most recent data from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the travel and tourism sector contributed QR 63.6 billion to Qatar's GDP in 2019, an estimated rate of 9.1%, just before the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. In 2019, international visitor spending on travel and tourism in Qatar totaled QR 48.4 billion.

Representing 11.8 percent of the total workforce in the region, the tourism industry and its related services provide about 250,000 jobs in Qatar.
