Expat workers coming to Qatar from the Philippines will be soon able to benefit from a new Qatar Visa Centre (QVC) set to open its doors in Manila, the Philippines, by the end of this month.
To explain recruitment procedures under the new QVC, the Visa Support Services (VSS) department at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), jointly with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA), organized an introductory seminar yesterday.
The seminar held for members of the Filipino community highlighted the functions as well as the benefits of the center.

The opening of the QVC in the Philippines adds to the QVCs the ministeries have set up in various countries such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and Nepal. These centers will serve in accelerating visa procedures.
Director of the VSS, Major Abdullah Khalifa Al Mohannadi, and Director of the Labour Inspection Department, Mohamed Ali al-Meer at MADLSA, addressed the seminar.
Major Al Mohannadi explained the recruitment procedures and benefits of the QVC and said the new center, to be opened by September-end, would ensure the rights of both employees and employers.
Expat workers in the Philippines will be able to avail services such as biometric data capture, medical examinations and signing of the employment contract in their home country at the new center.
Al-Meer underlined that the QVC in Manila would help facilitate the process of recruiting expatriate workers in the Philippines.
The QVCs in different countries streamline procedures for bringing expatriates to Qatar. A total of 13 QVCs have been opened in five countries recently, with the last one launched in Kathmandu in May this year.
Once the initial approval of the visa is issued from Qatar, expat workers can visit the local QVC to complete the recruitment procedures.
The centers offer a unified channel to carry out such procedures, which saves time and effort.
The QVCs are operated in co-operation with the MADLSA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Public Health.
