Fahad Abdulrahman Badar, a Qatari climber seeking adventure and thrill among the world's highest mountain peaks and a pioneering bank executive, has completed yet another challenging athletic feat by ascending Broad Peak, which stands at 8,047 meters above sea level in Pakistan's Karakoram mountains.
Broad Peak, the world's twelfth tallest peak, is located on the border between China and Pakistan and is one of the most difficult summits in the Pakistani Karakoram mountain range (whose name relates to the summit's width).
Fahad Badar began planning for this tough expedition as soon as he returned from his winter journey in January 2021, during which he successfully ascended the top of "Ama Dablam."

During the preparatory phase that precedes the mission, the Qatari climber emphasizes the importance of commitment, discipline, tenacity, and resolve, ensuring that he is mentally and physically prepared to face any difficulty.
After Mount Everest and Lhotse, this is Fahad's third 8000-meter summit, making him one of the few Arabs who have scaled these heights.
Fahad Badar explained that “Broad Peak seems to bring out the best—and the worst—in people. And that’s what keeps my hopes and enthusiasm alive to chart such tougher trajectories every time I select my next goal.
“Moreover, keeping up the Qatari flag higher at all such deadly Summits has become my ambition and with every successful Summit, I am inching closer to my dream,” he added.
Fahad Badar was injured during the descent after succumbing to frostbite as a result of another climber's rescue efforts ahead of him.
He had to spend the night near the summit of Broad Peak at an altitude of 7800m after running out of oxygen.
He was taken to a K2 Base camp and subsequently to the military hospital in Skardu once his location was discovered.
