The need for administering of vaccine and its booster dose is important to the general public and children to help combat this virus. The booster dose is said to improve the shield of protective immunity and will save the person from acute hospitalizations. The Ministry urges the public to take the booster dose for the Covid-19 vaccine as soon as possible. Here are the metrics of the Covid-19 vaccine administered in Qatar:
Number of Covid-19 vaccines administered in the last 24 hours (Jan 3–Jan 4): 11,263
Total number of booster doses administered so far: 300,246
Total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered since the start of the vaccination campaign: 5,235,303
The Ministry also stresses that social distancing is the dire need of the hour. People must avoid all social gatherings and continue to mask everywhere even in open public spaces. The need for sanitization and hygiene measures is also to be reinforced. Since the Omicron variant of the virus is said to be very easily transmissible, following such precautionary measures is a way to safeguard one’s vulnerability to the virus.
Apart from this, if anyone tests positive or shows symptoms, it is advisable to inform everyone they had been in contact within the last couple of days. It becomes easier to isolate, treat and contain the virus at the earliest.
Anyone exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms should contact the 16000 helpline immediately.
