Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) on Wednesday approved the new annual calendar for schools in the country for the next four years — from 2023-24 to 2026-27.
Qatar’s Minister of Education and Higher Education Ms Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi made the announcement following a ministerial decision.

Several factors were taken into consideration while creating the new calendar. A key reason for the change was the desire to bring Qatar’s school days in line with international standards and global education systems. It also sought to provide teachers and students with the proper amount of vacation time.
According to the decision, schoolchildren will take their second round of exams at the start of the academic year rather than during summer vacations.
The second semester’s midterm vacation — from March 12 to 16 — will be cancelled and replaced by the first semester’s midterm vacation (one week in October). This has been done to give students and teachers time to rest and recharge.
The second semester consists of several official holidays, including Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha.
It was also decided that three days in the first week of the first semester of every academic year will be designated to train staff and help in their professional development.
