The festival's theme this year is "Travel and Adventure," which comes from the explorations of Ibn Battuta. The event will feature a wide range of artistic expressions in both Arabic and English, from spoken word to instrumental music to theatrical performances.
The Ministry of Social Development and Family is dedicated to helping families succeed and grow in the community. By taking part in D'reesha, a cultural event that will bring together different elements of society in line with the hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, they will have a platform from which to display the fruits of their labor and deepen their ingrained participation in national events in Qatar.
Ibn Battuta, which features local performers, QF students, and members of the community; RUMI: The Musical; and Ajyal Tunes are just a few of the highlights of the festival. Cultural performances from countries other than Qatar, including Morocco, Senegal, Turkey, and Greece, will also be showcased at the festival.
D'reesha of Invention, sponsored by ConocoPhillips Qatar and showcasing scientists, scholars, and researchers from the Arab world, will also feature shows and workshops during the festival.
The Poetry Majlis, traditional games, and movie screenings will all take place at Al Khater House as part of the festival, which will also feature merchandising and the return of the Torba Farmers Market.
Rawdah AlHajj, Anas Al Dogheim, and others will read poems about Palestine at the festival, while Dalal Abu Amneh will use music, art, and science to tell the story of the Arab and Islamic world.
"The D'reesha Performing Arts Festival is an opportunity for us to share Qatar's rich cultural heritage with guests from around the world, as well as encourage international dialogue and engage our local community," said Mayan M Zebeib, Chief Communications Officer at Qatar Foundation.
Throughout the festival, there will be interactive workshops and performances of music, poetry, and the visual arts; we hope that our guests will enjoy this new way to engage with the performing arts as much as we do. (D'reesha of Invention).
