Every Sunday, the Qatar Living content team will share their personal recommendations for everything from apps to films and brunches this week in Qatar. As a multinational group, there's a diversity of choices and preference that we hope will cater to everybody.

1. Torch Tea Garden
My recommendation for this week is the Torch Tea Garden. This restaurant is located inside The Torch Hotel near Villagio Mall. The restaurant has amazing views of the entire city. I particularly love the décor of the restaurant which resembles a beautiful garden. The ambience is chic and stylish. The food is great, and I particularly enjoy their burgers, which are terrific. They also offer a great variety of different teas. You can enjoy afternoon tea from 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Starting from QR 90 you can savour scones, sweets, clotted cream, jam and your choice of coffee and tea.

2. The QIFF Menu
Since this month is QL's Foodie Month, I thought it would be a great idea to recommend the QIFF Menu, which is part of Qatar International Food Festival. Although the festival will only get underway on 15th March, foodies are welcome to try the QIFF Menu at more than 60 restaurants and cafés around the country.
Outlets will offer special food groupings of at least three menu items at a set price of QAR 49 at standalone cafés and restaurants. For restaurants in hotels, the price will be set at QAR 99, a bargain if you ask me. The QIFF Menu is available you to try till 31st March.
Here's the complete list of restaurants participating in the QIFF Menu. So what are you waiting for! Bon Appétit.

3. HMV Super Hero Weekend (9th/10th March, HMV Mirqab Mall)
Cosplay is growing in leaps and bounds here in Qatar, and geeks are now being given the platform to show off their creativity and costume designs in events such as this. HMV will be showcasing their store with a parade of cosplayers this coming weekend. If you'd like to take part, register with HMV by emailing them your name, phone number, cosplay character along with a reference photo to superhero@hmv.me. I will definitely there to see what famous characters turn up! There are cool prizes to be won, and no doubt some extra geeky surprises in store!

4. LOST HIGHWAY (1997)
“I like to remember things my own way. How I remembered them, not necessarily the way they happened.”
Lost Highway is about Fred Madison—a Los Angeles jazz musician who is tortured by the notion that his wife is having an affair. He starts receiving anonymous videotapes featuring footage taken from inside their house—one of which shows him hovering over his wife’s bloody and lifeless body.
Lost Highway is about Pete Dayton—a young auto mechanic who falls in love with the mistress of a local gangster. He gets caught up in a web of crime and deceit when the mistress convinces him to participate in a robbery that swiftly turns into murder when plans go awry.
The wife and the mistress look exactly the same. Visions of a Mystery Man clad in black and an empty cabin burning in the desert haunt both Fred and Pete.
Operating on high-octane, jet-fuel grade nightmare logic, Lost Highway is one of director David Lynch’s most disturbing films. Watch it alone at 2:00AM in the morning.

5. Tajine
For my pick this week, I'm recommending a restaurant called Tajine, in Souq Waqif.
It’s located conveniently at the center of the souq, where the atmosphere is really chill, especially on the top floor.
They have big tables that can fit groups of friends for a catch-up session; while overlooking the lively streets of the souq.
They have decent Moroccan cuisine with a stellar Moroccan tea, but my Moroccan friend insists it's not the real deal.
Whatever you call that delightfully warm beverage, I still go there on weekends for my tea fix.

6. Altered Carbon (Netflix)
For this week's pick I’m going for the Netflix show called Altered Carbon, based on a novel by Richard K. Morgan with the same title. The series is set 300 years into the dystopian future where death is no longer permanent and human bodies are interchangeable. The main character's name is Takeshi Kovacs, the only surviving soldier who fought alongside interstellar warriors against the new world order. For centuries his mind has been imprisoned until the impossibly wealthy Laurens Bancroft offers him the chance to live again, at the price of solving his employer’s murder.

7. English Vinglish (2012)
In honour of one of Bollywood's first real female superstars, I'm recommending the feel-good film English Vinglish. Sridevi, who tragically passed away a few days ago, starred in Eglish Vinglish in her uplifting comeback role of a seemingly traditional Indian housewife who enrolls in an English-language course in the US after she finds herself humiliatingly unable to place a simple order in an American restaurant.
This isn't your typical run-of-the-mill Bollywood film, although the musical numbers are excellent. The film premiered to critical acclaim and was well-received both in India and overseas.
It's the sort of cheerful film that anyone could appreciate, and don't worry, it's not three hours long.
