Continuing its annual Ramadan tradition to spread joy among the underprivileged across different countries in the world, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) will provide food baskets to Palestinian families deeply-affected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

QRCS has teamed up with the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) to distribute food baskets to as many as 3,780 families in West Bank and Al-Quds in Palestine.

The endeavor complements QRCS' efforts to help poor families in several Palestinian villages and towns. It will benefit a total of 18,900 individuals.

While carrying out the project, QRCS will ensure that all precautionary measures are followed to safeguard the health of its staff as well as that of the beneficiaries.

Daily wage laborers at workshops and small enterprises, families of quarantined persons in isolated cities, and those registered with PRCS’ social assistance program will be among the first to benefit from the relief.

With the closure of markets and businesses amid preventive measures against COVID-19, several vulnerable families have lost their income.

Representatives from PRCS are currently deployed in many villages and towns to deliver the food baskets to target groups, in conjunction with local municipalities and communities.

QRCS is giving out food aid valued at QR1 million ($272,700). Each basket comprises 30kg of food staples like rice, sugar, tahina, dates, tomato paste, vegetable oil, pasta, freekeh, lentils, noodles, chickpeas, beans, tea, and hallway.

QRCS’ Ramadan campaign for 1441 A H involves humanitarian and development projects for one million beneficiaries in over 22 countries. The campaign "It is Better and Greater in Reward," is worth QR60 million.
