Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has been named among the top 10 most supportive organizations dealing with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Qatar.

This recognition comes after Ipsos, the third-largest research agency in the world, carried out a number of in-depth studies to better understand the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on attitudes, behaviors, and future expectations of consumers and global markets.

The French market research and consulting firm conducted the studies for eight countries in the MENA region, including Qatar.

The research saw Ipsos conduct online interviews with citizens and residents of Qatar to ask them about which companies they thought have best participated in Qatar’s fight against COVID-19.

Key criteria for the survey were: (1) positively addressing public fears and concerns; (2) attitudes towards government, media, and health organizations; (3) countermeasures; (4) changes in lifestyles and social behaviors; (5) reduction of impact on citizens; (6) changes in purchase and shopping habits; (7) consumers’ expectations from companies; and (8) short-term and long-term outcomes.

The survey found the below to be among the top 10 most supportive companies (in alphabetical order) during the current crisis:

Al Meera, Doha Bank, Ministry of Public Health, Ooredoo, Qatar Airways, Qatar Charity, Qatar Foundation, QNB, Qatar Petroleum, and QRCS.

Since the start of the pandemic, QRCS has played a prominent role in supporting the country as it tackles the major health challenge.

Under its public information strategy, QRCS initiated a countrywide awareness campaign that involved educating the public on safety measures and ways to protect oneself and the community. Through lectures, social media messages, and mass media materials QRCS continues to raise awareness of the disease for the community’s wellbeing.

Over 18,000 QRCS volunteers rose to the challenge and have been contributing in various ways in a bid to help the country tackle the situation.

The volunteers can be seen at different shopping malls, offering advice to the public to wear masks and gloves and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Volunteers have also stepped in to help manage quarantine facilities, give out masks and gloves to the public as well as disinfect streets to ensure public health safety.

Furthermore, QRCS support is also found at quarantine facilities and health centers that it manages, under the supervision of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management.

During Ramadan, QRCS came forward to support vulnerable families deeply impacted by the COVID-19 situation in that the organization distributed at least 100,000 food baskets to needy families. The support also saw QRCS donate medical and hygiene supplies such as masks and sanitizers to health facilities in the country.

Meanwhile, health authorities in the country continue to implement the highest level of monitoring, detection, and management procedures to deal with the virus, the public has been advised to follow certain measures to safeguard their health.

For any queries, or concerns related to COVID-19 in Qatar, the public can contact a 24/7 hotline set up by the Ministry. The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.
