Breast cancer is one of the most common types of the disease found among women population. Over the years, a lot has been done to detect it early and successfully treat it.
Screen For Life — Qatar’s National Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening programme — launched its annual National Breast Cancer Awareness campaign yesterday.
The month-long programme is being organised as part of the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2018, reported Gulf Times.

The campaign’s tagline ‘Your Health is Precious, Get Screened’ is a message from children to their mothers, urging them to get screened for breast cancer. It depicts the love and concern the children have for their mothers.
The survival rate from Breast Cancer Reaches 100% if the disease is caught at an early stage.

The campaign will organise a comprehensive range of activities including intensive educational lectures addressed to private and governmental entities, activation booths in major malls and awareness posters in all PHCC’s Health Centres, according to The Peninsula.

The campaign will primarily target women who are aged between 45 and 69. They will be encouraged to get screened as early as possible at one of three dedicated screening suites at Al Wakra, Leabaib and Rawdat Al Khail health centres.

“Raising awareness of breast and bowel cancer and the ‘Screen For Life’ objectives is a year-round goal for us. This year’s community outreach initiative aims at engaging the younger generation, so they’ll encourage their mothers to take action and get screened for breast cancer,” Dr Shaikha Abu Shaikha, Cancer Programme Manager at the PHCC, told Qatar Tribune.
