The Shura Council in Qatar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies in Doha yesterday.
His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud and Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies President Rodrigo Felinto Ibarra, initialed the understanding.
Under the MoU, the two parties have agreed to establish a partnership, which will allow them to strengthen relations based on the principles of equality, mutual trust and common interests.
The MoU focuses on enhancing parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and Brazil's Chamber of Deputies through the exchange of information on issues of mutual interest as well as all parliamentary issues.

Furthermore, under the MoU, the two parties vow to coordinate in international conferences, meetings, and forums and to work toward unifying positions.
The MoU also provides for the exchange of experiences between the Shura Council and Chamber of Deputies in various fields including legislative work and internal organization.
In a meeting between HE the Speaker of the Shura Council and Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies president and the accompanying delegation, the top officials reviewed relations between the two councils as well as ways of developing them further.
HE Al Mahmoud affirmed the common desire to develop Qatari-Brazilian relations, particularly in the parliamentary field to benefit the people of the two countries.
Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies president expressed his happiness to visit Qatar and to see the renaissance witnessed in various fields. He also hailed Qatar's distinguished role at the regional and international levels.
Ibarra affirmed his eagerness to boost bilateral co-operation between the two countries and develop their parliamentary relations.
He pointed out that the signing of the MoU between the Shura Council and the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament last June, in which Qatar became an observer member of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, has given Qatar's relations with Latin America and the Caribbean a new dimension and opened wider horizons for it.
The meeting was attended by Qatari Friendship Committee chairman with Latin American and Caribbean Countries Khalid bin Abdullah Al Buainain, and Brazil ambassador to Qatar Roberto Abdalla.

Furthermore, the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil, and his accompanying delegation, also met with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the Amiri Diwan office on Sunday.
During the meeting, they reviewed the friendly relations between Qatar and Brazil. The meeting was attended by HE the Shura Council Speaker.
