After a few days of chart-popping mercury readings, the temperatures are set to go down starting today, with the Qatar Met Department predicting early 40C levels.
A maximum temperature of 43C is expected in Doha, Mesaieed, Wakrah and Al Khor today.
However, that does not mean everything is well and good, because the heavy dusty and windy spell is looking all set to continue, reported Gulf Times.
Qatar witnessed heavy winds, dusty conditions and low visibility on Thursday.
“It is expected that the northwesterly wind will continue to be strong in most areas during the weekend, where the winds reach their peak on Thursday and Friday, ranging from 20-30 knots inshore with wind gust reaching 40-48 knots sometime during the day and the wind ranges from 25-35 / 40 knots offshore,” reported The Peninsula, quoting a release from the Qatar Meteorology Department.
“As wind activity continues, temperature will relatively decrease compared with past days, reaching the beginning of forties in Doha during the day which is around the normal average at this time,” it added.
Meanwhile, another report in The Peninsula said the strength of the winds would peak on Friday and start tapering off beginning Saturday.
The Meteorological Department has urged residents to take care and avoid going to the sea during today and tomorrow.
