Lieutenant General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem, the Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces, attended a meeting of GCC Chiefs of Staff in Kuwait yesterday.
The gathering, which was the 15th session of the Supreme Military Committee of GCC Chiefs of Staff (GCC-SMC), is the first such meeting Qatar has attended since the start of the illegal blockade by neighbouring nations, reported Gulf Times.
The State of Qatar participated in the meetings of the 15th session of the Supreme Military Committee of GCC Chiefs of Staff, held today in the sisterly State of Kuwait.
Kuwaiti Chief-of-Staff Mohammed Al Khoder used the meeting to call for an immediate end to the year-long Saudi-led boycott of Qatar, reported The New Arab.
“The region is going through accelerating challenges. It’s imperative that we preserve Gulf bonds and join forces to preserve this organisation and move away from anything that disturbs Gulf unity,” Khoder was quoted as saying by Al araby.co.uk.
A Kuwaiti official had said earlier this week that the Gulf military chiefs would also meet with US Central Command officials and Egyptian and Jordanian military representatives for talks on defence cooperation, according to the Kuwait News Agency.
