The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has called on citizens and residents planning to perform Umrah or visit the Holy Sites to ensure they receive essential vaccinations prior to travel.

Foremost among the recommended immunisations are the Meningococcal Meningitis vaccine and the Seasonal Influenza vaccine, both of which play a critical role in protecting pilgrims from infectious diseases that can spread quickly in large gatherings.

MoPH confirmed that these vaccinations are available free of charge at health centres affiliated with the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), making it easier for travellers to complete their health preparations well ahead of departure.

In addition to vaccinations, the Ministry strongly advises individuals who may be at higher risk of health complications to visit their registered health centres for a medical check-up before travelling. This includes:

  • Senior citizens
  • Pregnant women
  • Children
  • Individuals living with chronic diseases

With millions of pilgrims gathering in close proximity during Umrah, preventive measures such as vaccination are essential to safeguarding personal and public health. Early preparation not only reduces the risk of illness but also ensures a safer and more comfortable spiritual journey.

Travellers are encouraged to schedule their appointments promptly and complete all recommended health requirements before departure.
