Qatar observes strict laws when it comes to maintaining law and order on the streets. Police officers often tow away vehicles that have huge outstanding fines against them and those that don’t respect traffic laws.
Such vehicles are parked inside a government compound from where people can recover them after paying the necessary fines.
However sometimes vehicle owners, for several reasons, choose to leave the vehicles in the police yard. Qatar’s General Directorate of Traffic has issued a strict warning that such vehicles would soon be sold off.
Owners of impounded vehicles should pay the penalties and collect their vehicles on or before October 1, 2018, or risk them being sold off, said a statement from the country’s traffic department, according to The Peninsula.
The penalty should be paid at the Search and Investigation Section office, in Industrial Area’s Street No 52.

“Owners of impounded vehicles, which have been kept under custody for three months or more, must contact the Investigation Section, complete the procedures for the release of their vehicles, on or before the end of working hours on October 1,” the Traffic Department was quoted as saying by Qatar Tribune.
If the owner of the impounded vehicle does not pay the fine on time or fails to contact the traffic department, the MOI will sell off the vehicle.
This decision is in accordance with Article No. (89) Law No. (16) of 2015, amending provisions of the Law No. 19 of 2007.
