If you are in Qatar on Sunday (December 3), look up to the sky and you will see a super moon shining bright.

One will not need any special astronomical equipment to see the super moon, as it can be viewed with the naked eye, according to noted astronomer Dr Beshir Marzouk, reported Gulf Times.

The super moon will appear in the Doha sky at 6:47pm local time, reported Qatar Tribune, citing the Qatar Calendar House.

The full moon on December 3 will be called as the super moon because it will be at the nearest point of its orbit around the earth (about 358,000km from earth's centre). Qatar residents will be able to watch the celestial spectacle throughout the night.
The super moon will appear around 14% bigger than a normal full moon while the illuminated area appears 30% bigger. So a super moon looks bigger and brighter than the normal full moon.
The super moon phenomenon took place thrice in 2016 and will appear again on January 2, 2018.
