Ladies’ sports evenings and races return to Education City Stadium

The Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA) has announced a new package of sports activities and programmes for women and girls as part of its Sports for All calendar.

The initiative, organised under the Ministry of Sports and Youth, aims to increase female participation in sport and provide more opportunities for women and girls of different age groups to stay active.

Ladies’ Evening held every Tuesday

One of the main activities is Ladies’ Evening, held every Tuesday at Education City Stadium in cooperation with Qatar Foundation.

The weekly programme includes a range of sports and fitness activities, including volleyball, basketball, physical fitness and badminton.

The initiative is designed to offer women a regular and accessible environment in which to participate in recreational and community sport.

Indoor races planned for September and October

QSFA will also organise a series of summer races for women and girls at the Aspire Indoor Track.

The races are scheduled for:

  • September 18
  • September 25
  • October 2
  • October 9

Race distances will vary according to participants’ age groups, allowing women and girls of different ages to take part.

Expanding women’s participation in sport

QSFA Executive Director Abdullah Al Dosari said the Federation places strong importance on increasing women’s participation in community sport and ensuring programmes accommodate different age groups.

He noted that QSFA organised around 38 championships and activities during the summer period aimed at encouraging greater female involvement in sport and community activities.

The Federation said its programmes are designed to gradually build a stronger culture of regular physical activity while providing a safe and motivating environment that takes women’s privacy into consideration.

The wider objective is to encourage more women and girls to participate in sport, improve public health and increase levels of physical activity across the community, in line with the Ministry of Sports and Youth’s efforts to broaden sports participation in Qatar.
