Qatar Photography Center, Civil Aviation Authority Hold Awareness Session on Drone Law

Qatar Photography Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, held an awareness session on Law No. 10 of 2026 concerning unmanned aircraft at the centre's headquarters in Katara Cultural Village.

During the session, attendees were introduced to licensing and registration requirements, operating procedures, and the responsibilities and obligations of unmanned aircraft users.

The meeting aimed to raise awareness of the legislation regulating the sector and support the safe and responsible use of drone technology in Qatar.

Naif Al Jaber, Director of the Aviation Safety Department at the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, delivered a presentation outlining the objectives of the law and its key regulatory provisions.

He explained the legal framework governing unmanned aircraft, which is designed to keep pace with the sector's rapid development while ensuring operations comply with approved rules and standards.

Law No. 10 of 2026 aims to balance support for the growth of the unmanned aircraft sector and encouragement of investment and innovation with the protection of public security and safety, individual privacy, airspace and property.

The law establishes a regulatory framework covering definitions, licensing and permit systems, mandatory registration of unmanned aircraft, operating controls, and the rights, duties and responsibilities of individuals, companies and relevant entities.

It also sets out penalties for violations.

The session additionally reviewed the scope of the law and steps related to its implementation.

The meeting was organised as part of cooperation between Qatar Photography Center and the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority to increase awareness of the rules governing drone use and familiarise photographers and others interested in the field with the applicable legal requirements and procedures.
