In celebration of International Plastic Bag Free Day, Al Meera Qatar had distributed over 100,000 paper bags to its customers on July 3, 2021.
The initiative is in accordance with the company's important role in promoting sustainability across the board and its status as a national leader in environmental protection.
Moreover, it was held in coordination with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment as part of its ongoing efforts to promote a sustainable future.

The annual International Plastic Bag Free Day promotes the usage of environmentally friendly items such as paper and cloth bags instead of single-use plastic bags.
Over half of Al Meera's locations have recycling stations, which have helped recycle over 7 million plastic bottles and cans.
Such efforts are part of Al Meera's larger and more comprehensive environmental initiative, which is governed by the four pillars of Qatar's National Vision 2030: economic, human, social, and environmental growth.
As part of this commitment, Al Meera continues to lead activities in the field of sustainability.
Under the slogan “FutureWithoutPlastics”, MME had also launched a contest for the best idea to limit the use of plastic bags.
The winners of the competition will be announced on July 10, 2021.
