People living in the densely populated Al Muntazah area has some reasons to cheer as the Al Muntazah park, which has been shut down for several years now, is finally going to see some renovation happening.

Qatar’s Public Works Authority Ashghal is set to develop the park for the first time after nearly two decades of closure, an official told Qatar Tribune.

The tender for the project’s design has already been submitted through Ashghal’s official website, said the source.

The park’s name had been changed twice, from Al Muntazah to Rawdat Al Khail and back to Al Muntazah again.

Four public parks, including Al Muntazah, is expected to be renovated by Ashghal in the coming days, While two new parks will come up in Umm Al Seneem and Al Gharafa, the parks in Al Muntazah and Ras Abu Aboud will be renovated.

All required formalities are set to be processed within 15 days and the initial design completed within 60 days.

Detailed design and approvals will be completed within a maximum of 120 days and the project will start after 165 days, the source said.

Umm Al Seneem is one of the newly populated areas and is home to many health and education facilities. The area is also seeing many infrastructure projects such as roads and drainage lines. The new park will offer green space for recreation and leisure for the rising population in the area.
