Qatar University College of Law (QU-LAWC) held a seminar on Qatar Sea Blockade from a Legal Perspective yesterday at Intercontinental Doha - The City sponsored by Al Sulaiti Law Firm.

The seminar focused on the legal dimensions of Qatar’s blockade by neighbouring states from different legal perspectives such as international law, maritime navigation law and diplomacy.

The seminar was inaugurated by Al Sulaiti Law Firm chairman Mubarak Al Sulaiti. Also joining him in the panel was Dr. Muna Al Marzouqi, Dr. Ioannis Konstantinidis, who is an Assistant Professor of International Law and Nasser Mosaad.

The seminar, which was attended by prominent lawyers as well law students, also discussed the violations of international and maritime agreements by the countries which imposed a siege on Qatar, endangering marine navigation in violation to maritime agreements, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and causing great damage.

While Al Marzouqi presented some of the consequences of the blockade on the Qatari population, Konstantinidis explored into some of the laws of the sea and the agreements that were violated as a result of the siege.
