The opening ceremony was attended by Engineer Youssef Al-Emadi, Director of Project Affairs, Engineer Bader Darwish, Manager of Highway Project Department, along with several officials and engineers of Ashghal, and the contractor.

The project is located between East Street 33 Interchange on Industrial Area Road and Aba Al Sleel Interchange on G Ring Road.
The new East Industrial Street Extension will allow free flow of traffic between Hamad Port Road, G Ring Road, Industrial Area Road, Salwa Road, and Al Furousiya Street.

87 percent of the East Industrial Street project has been completed. Ashghal aims to complete the remaining 13 percent by the second quarter of 2020 including three signalized intersections, service roads, pedestrian tunnels, pedestrian and bicycle tracks.

“The opening of the East Industrial Street Project concludes 2019 Ashghal’s highway openings, which witnessed the opening of other important roads such as Al Majd Road, Al Khor Road, and other vital roads”, commented Engineer Youssef Al-Emadi, Projects Affairs Director.
“The project integrates with other important projects such as G Ring Road, Hamad Port Road, as well as the Industrial Area Road, Salwa Road and Al Furousiya Street, which connects the south of the country to Doha directly without the need to pass from the heart of Doha, in order to shorten the travel time by more than 80 percent, especially since the bridge that will open today, is considered one of the longest bridge in Qatar with a length of 1.7 km”, Al-Emadi added.
Engineer Bader Darwish, Manager of Highway Project Department said, “The project of East Industrial Street Extension is considered a vital link between arrivals from southern areas such as Mesaieed, Al Wakra, and Al Wukair to directly reach the Industrial Area, Salwa Road and Al Furousiya Street to Al Rayyan and Al Gharrafa”.
The project will provide a direct link to the movement of goods, whether coming from Hamad Port or Hamad International Airport towards the Industrial Area.
The road, which consisted of two lanes in each direction is now expanded to three or four lanes in each direction. The existing roundabouts were demolished to establish three traffic intersections including a bridge that consists of three lanes in both directions. It aims to facilitate more than 12000 vehicles per hour.

To ensure the safety of the people in that area, the project will provide a pedestrian path and bicycle track with a length of 10 km. It also includes a pedestrian tunnel that facilitates transportation between Asian Town and Industrial Area.
Along with Asian Town, Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation, and Qatar Motor Racing Club, the project will also serve many economic activities, malls, workshops, factories, and transportation company (Karwa).
